"I wanted to create the largest world-wide get-together for pregnant
women in order to celebrate the shooting of my 2000th maternity picture.
On August 21st 2005, in Angrignon Park in Montreal, I was able to
make this dream come true thanks to the hundreds of you who answered
my call." |

Fathers were beaming with pride and so was the photographer. "A
pregnant woman is highly visible, but it's so easy to forget that
dads are expecting too, says Sonia Jam. Fathers are an equally important
part of the birth process. I wanted to pay tribute to them, to honour
them." This was the underlying reason for putting together the
event "Un an plus tard…Papa bébé" one
year to the day of her prior event "2000 fois enceintes".

On Sunday October 1st 2006 Montreal-based photographer Sonia Jam held
a third larger-than-life event at the Grande-Place in Complexe Desjardins.
Her objective was to feature on a single picture the thousand faces
that define modern day Quebec society, from multiple generations families
to newly minted immigrants, the Tremblay, Gagnon, Blanchette, Lopez,
Abdou, Patel or Nguyen… of Quebec! |
